Expedition Notebook - 2 episodes

There is an enourmous amount of science that goes into a polar expedition. The explorers must be in excellent shape and their equipment cannot fail. The explorers must carefully manage their diet throughout their trek to ensure their survival. An unsupported expedition requires not only an accurate projection of caloric intake but a diligent accounting of the weight and packaging of the food supplies.

I produced two short documentaries on the science of an expedition specifically the training and the diet. Misha Malakhov, the Russian member of the exploration team, was a surgeon and his insight into the science of the expedition was invaluable.
